SUMMER DANCE AT PADC!

30th Ignite Summer Festival of Dance

Join us for a totally revamped summer festival of dance experience! This year we are offering TWO WEEKS of not only fun and dance but also master classes, guest speakers and even a professional photoshoot experience. Dancers who attend will not only improve in their technique, but also expand on their choreographic and improvisational skills during the creation of our 2023 Crew Dance. Each week will conclude with an informal performance for parents and friends (Saturday, July 23 & August 13).

REQUIREMENTSDancers in level IV, V & VI are required to attend BOTH  weeks of Summer Festival. If you are unable to attend both weeks, you will not be eligible to be in the 2023 Crew Dance or 2023 Prelude of the Ballet.

WEEK #1 July 19-23: Classes will focus on ballet technique, ballet variations, jazz, hip-hop and crew. Dancers who attend week #1 of Summer Festival will be treated to a makeup session by Andrew Marke Salon, receive a nutrition and dance injury prevention session from Caroline Lewis Jones and take class from Alexa and Paulina Donnelly.

WEEK #2: August 9 -13: Classes will focus on modern dance technique, contemporary, tap technique and crew. Dancers who attend week #2 of Summer Festival will participate in a headshot and dance photoshoot, receive a nutrition and dance injury prevention session from Caroline Lewis Jones and take class from guest master instructor, Maura Grace

Drop in rate: $100.00 per day

Guest Teacher Biographies

Caroline Lewis- Jones from South Carolina, has been dancing for over 35 years. She is a mom of two little boys, married to her Hance and is a certified Holistic Health Coach through IIN. She trained at The Southern Strutt under her mentor, Nancy Giles. At the age of 18 she moved to New York City where she performed for six years. Her credits include the VMAs with NSYNC, the Latin Grammy Awards, several commercials, Disney Industrials, Brittney Spears & Madonna  “Me Against the Music” video, MTV’s Body Rock Fitness video and more. Although successful as a commercial dancer, her true passion lies within contemporary company work, where she had the opportunity to work for Michaels Company R.A.W., Dee Caspary’s IV Dance Company, Notary Dance Company, Rhapsody and Company, A.S.H. Contemporary, and Justin Giles’ Soul Escape. In 2001 she traveled to Seoul, Korea where she performed for Jason Parson’s and POZ Dance Theatre. In July 2010, Caroline performed with Sonya Tayeh from “So You Think You Can Dance” with her company in Chicago. She also choreographs for studios around the country and teaches for Adrenaline Dance Convention and The Dance Sessions. In 2007, Caroline choreographed and performed a one-woman show, called Finding My Way. It was about the loss of her mother and her life currently without her. It is her greatest accomplishment yet.Caroline also founded Unbound Dance Company in 2008 with Susan Dabney Hancock in Columbia South Carolina. As the Artistic Director of Unbound, Caroline’s goal is to inspire dancers and provide a new outlet to perform. Caroline has a deep passion for inspiring healthy living and disease prevention. 15 years ago, she joined a community called Health Made Simple and partnered with a company called Juice Plus. Her mission is to encourage and inspire healthy living around the world. Her motto is: if you don’t take care of your body, where are you going to live?

Paulina & Alexa Donnelly

Paulina and Alexa Donnelly have trained in all genres of dance since the age of 5. In 2020, the twins both received their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Oakland University School of Music, Theatre and Dance. During their time at OU, Paulina & Alexa mainly focused on contemporary, modern, ballet and choreography. As part of the OU Repertory Company they performed and choreographed for the Oakland Dance Theatre. In 2019, their self-choreographed duet “Tvilling” was selected to be presented at the American College Dance Association (ACDA). In 2020, their piece “Intervolve” was  also selected for presentation at ACDA. In 2018 they had the opportunity to study abroad in Berlin Germany at Tanzfabrik, Tanz Tangente and at the Friei Universität. Paulina & Alexa have trained at numerous intensives with professional dance companies such as DIAVOLO LA, LA Contemporary Dance, Eisenhower Dance Detroit and many more.The twins currently participate in local workshops and classes on a regular basis, in addition to traveling to Los Angeles California to further participate in workshops, intensives and take master classes with professional dancers and choreographers. Paulina and Alexa are currently professional company members with Take Root Dance under artistic director Ali Woerner. They have been with the company since 2019, where they started as student apprentices. Paulina and Alexa currently teach at Release Dance in Ferndale Michigan. They  have been training at Release since it opened, taking over 300 classes in all styles and continue to take class here on a weekly basis. The twins are also members and choreographers of the Release Detroit performance team in the 2021 showcase. Additionally, the twins teach at Artflux dance lab under the direction of Russell Tanenbaum. The twins are both planning on moving to Los Angeles, California later this year to further their dance careers.

Maura Grace

Maura Grace, Professional dancer and fitness instructor based in NYC, grew up in Rochester Hills Michigan dancing competitively. She attended Western Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance. In 2018, Maura moved to New York City to pursue her dance career. Since moving to New York she has booked multiple performances throughout the city as a freelancer, as well as being apart of Cirque Du Soleil’s dancer database. Most notable NY performances include the off Broadway show “Bridesmaids: a dance narrative”. Maura has also booked work with Super Trainer ShaunT, assisting with choreography for his latest fitness program “Let’s Get Up” with Beachbody inc. Working with young aspiring dancers is a passion for Maura. She is always so excited to come back to her hometown and feel that Michigan energy! Let’s Dance!!!!
